ThisVetCan was born because I was feeling tied down with the idea that my profession was my identity. It seemed to close the walls in around career aspirations and life plans. The self-identification with the job rather than with myself made me lose sense of what I really wanted in life. Why try to conform to the expectations of the profession which you join out of choice?
ThisVetCan is here to show that this vet can do anything! Be it gardening or gymming, enjoying fashion and food, wanting to take career breaks and travel or retiring early!
I’m a brainstorming, creative thinking, mental health prioritising vet. And I’m sure there are others out there. ThisVetCan aims to form a community of veterinary professionals who don’t necessarily want to stick to the vet status quo. Like me, they want better working environments, they want lunch breaks, they want free time and they care about themselves, their career and their finances as well as others.
