Sick of mindless radio chatter on your commute? Or got some long drives to clients?
Listed below are some podcasts that are really inspiring me at the moment to make changes for the better in my professional life and personal life. There are plenty of clinical veterinary podcasts out there but, hands up, I’d much prefer to listen to something different in-between cases I see in real life. None of these are ads or sponsored – they are just real recommendations from a girl who loves podcasts and bettering herself!

This new podcast series literally hits me with so many lightbulb moments per episode, I always finish each one feeling so uplifted and inspired. Katie and Ru interview a whole range of veterinary professionals who have amazing and varied insights into how to innovate the veterinary industry and our working lives. Topics range from advancing leadership in veterinary practice to exploring neurodiversity and safe spaces in a clinic setting. A really refreshing and insightful podcast!
2. The Meaningful Money Podcast

Pete Matthews could not explain personal finance in a more accessible and articulate way. Every episode is full of value that means I learn something new every time I listen. He has really fascinating guests on – the ones I have enjoyed recently are Mama Fur Fur and This Girl Invests. But the main thing is that he talks about topics that everyone feels like they should know about but just don’t. With great analogies, he demystifies money and helps you feel like you have a clear strategy to become financially secure.
3. Borborygmi: Noises from the Veterinary World

You ever feel like you’re listening to someone and want to say -‘this is just like me too!’. This was me listening to Naomi Mellor interview Nat Scroggie and Jess Benn, they talked about exploring other avenues in the veterinary industry alongside clinical practice – including blogging (hi). There are loads of episodes on a whole host of topics, including entrepreneurship, side hustles, confidence, mental health, career coaching. I can feel pretty confident in saying, whatever you’re interested in – there will be an episode for you!
4. The Money Clinic with Claer Barrett

I love Clear Barrett – she is so down to earth and so passionate about helping people with their money conundrums and creating money saving hacks. What I enjoy in these episodes is that she finds real people to pose their real-life money problems and then gets a panel of experts to give their advice. Claer has an amazing skill of being able to succinctly summarise peoples’ thoughts or advice and clarify any jargon immediately. You can also resonate with people on the show if they’re in a similar situation to you or one that you see yourself being in in the near future – and learn from them!
5. Dare to Lead by Brené Brown

This is a podcast series, I’ve just started sinking my teeth into and although very ‘americanised’, gets to the nitty gritty of universal workplace culture issues that affect us all! Brené uses data-driven points about toxic work-place culture, the great resignation and culture-shifting leadership that have scientific papers backing them to great really engaging episodes. More review to follow as I make my way through more episodes but so far so good!
